In February 1907, the house was still displaying the Morgans livery. At that time S&P had contracted to take the house over, but the purchase had not yet been completed.
At the time, licensee John Barber had only been in the house for four months and it was his first employment in the licensed trade, he was however willing for the licence to be surrendered.

Licence given up 11.10.1907 in consideration a licence for new premises, the GORDON ARMS, Southtown.
