The Crown Inn was advertised to let 7th October 1762. It included Bowling Green, Stables for 34 horses, 23 beds and a rent of £30 per year. Unfortunately it was not specified which Crown. ( London Road ? )

In 1791, James Howlett is given as a victualler, but no house is named.
In April 1803, James Howlett advises his Friends and the Public that he had left the CROWN TAVERN INN and intended to carry on the Wine and Liquor Trade in premises in the Grass Market, formerly occupied by Mr. Collier Maitland.
Unfortunately location is not specified. (Church Street or London Road......?)
