ELIJAH EYRE
The Lady Bridge Brewery had carried on for more than 50 years when offered For Sale by Auction Monday 22nd July 1878, in consequence of the termination of the Articles of Partnership of Messrs. Eyre & Co. The brewery had been established by the late Mr. Elijah Eyre. (Died March 1863)

The Brewery was situated `in the best part of Town' by the Waterside and contained a 35 quarter Plant and all necessary Machinery, large Cooler-rooms and Stores, Counting-house and Offices, Stabling for 26 Horses, Cask Sheds, Cooperage and Workshops, Two Malthouses to steep about 52 Quarters. A Wharf with quayed frontage, Two private Dwelling-houses, a Dwelling-house and Shop and Six Cottages, the whole occupying an area of about 67,000 superficial feet.

83 Freehold and Copyhold Public and Beerhouses, and 137 Leasehold and Hired, situated in the important Towns of Lynn, Peterborough, Wisbech, Ely, Hunstanton and Wells, and in the neighbouring Towns and Villages embracing the Western Division of Norfolk and extending into Cambridgeshire, Northamptonshire and Lincolnshire.

Enjoying a good Private Trade and profitable Spirit Trade, to which a Wine Trade could be added. The Whole being capable of vast expansion.

The Will of Elijah Eyre, Esq., eminent Brewer and Merchant, was proved August 1863. Having acquired considerable property, both real and personal, the latter being sworn at under £70,000. The whole of his Estate being left in trust for the benefit of his daughters.

By 1900 the brewery was owned by MORGANS of Norwich.
