- Fine of £1 and 10s costs for selling brandy under proof. A quarter of
a pint, sold to the Inspector of Weights and Measures was found to be
32.3 pc under proof, the legal limit being 25 per cent under proof. In
defence it was said that the spirit had been in a jar standing on the
counter since before Christmas. The whiskey had no doubt lost a little
strength. |
