On the night of Saturday 1st November 1791, an old man named Burdock was walking to Buxton from Doughty's Hospital in Norwich when he was stopped by villains and robbed of his watch and 5s 6d. Beaten severely about the head, he was taken to his son's house, the White Hart, Buxton, where recovery was expected.


Appears in the South Erpingham Register of 1794 as the WHITE HEART.
