On Wednesday 24th August 1870, Mr. Clowes of New Buckenham applied, on the behalf of Mrs. Coates, for a spirit licence for the WHITE HORSE, Fersfield. Although witnesses were called as to character and endeavoured to show that the house was necessary as a fully licensed house, the application was refused.

In 1875 and 1877 there are three beer retail outlets recorded in Fersfield.
