For Sale by Auction Monday, 21st April 1788, with Stables, Outhouses,
Lime-kiln, Lime-house, Yards, Garden and Pightle, containing about 2
Acres, let at £30 per annum. Situated "against a road of great traffic".

In March 1835, 60 year old William Neale was sentenced to one month's
imprisonment for having been found guilty of stealing a pewter pot and a
beer glass from alehouse keeper William Dawson. The offence had occurred on
23rd February 1835.Given as the BLACK SWAN

Watney Mann proposed to close the house in 1970,
it survived into the 1980's.
