At the East Harling Petty Sessions, Tuesday 31st August 1869, the
licence of the TROWEL & HAMMER,
beerhouse, Rockland All Saints, could not be issued
since no notices had been served in time as required by the Act.
Only sighting of the name to date.
On Tuesday 6th July 1869 - Henry Hinchley, beerhouse keeper of
Rockland All Saints was fined a total of 17s 9d including costs, for
permitting drunkenness in his house on 18th June 1869. He was further charged
with allowing a mare and a cow to stray on the highway at Shropham on
19th June 1869 and incurred another fine of 9s 6d including costs.
Other licensees are named at the other Rockland All Saints houses in
1869, so Mr. Hinchley is shown here as the only available house.
