|NORFOLK PUBLIC HOUSES|
The population of Stiffkey in April 1909 was given as
429. At the time 3 public houses were operating.
The Red Lion was seen to be the most inconvenient since it was in a narrow and dangerous part of the road. It was recommended for closure, ` irrespective of ownership, but in consideration of the best accommodation and convenience of the general public'.
Ironically this was the only house to survive.
