Timothy Meachen received a warning from the magistrates on Friday 2nd September 1864 following a fine that had been imposed `a few months previously' for allowing ale to be drunk in his house during illegal hours, on a Sunday.

Closed May 1989 with licensee William Chapman, age 67, having been at the house for 37 years. His wife, Doris had died three years earlier. When Mr. Chapman entered the house in 1952, a pint of beer cost 7d.
