The Purlustration of Great Yarmouth, published 1872, recorded that a cockfight was held at a public house called the Billiards in 1728. The match being held between the Gentlemen of Yarmouth and those of Suffolk, for two guineas a battle and four guineas the odd battle. A large pit and pleasant seating was provided for the spectators. |
