Mr. G. King applied for a new (full) licence for the DELHI TAVERN, Thursday 2nd September 1858. (Address given as Brighton Road). Along with 34 other such applications, all were refused. (He is recorded in the 1858 trades directory as a beer retailer and cowkeeper.) ~ Mr. King of the DELHI TAVERN, Havelock Road, advertised Two Substantial Houses, facing the sea, well suited for Business or as Lodging Houses, to be sold by Private Contract, 12th February 1859. ~ The Beershop and Dwelling-house known as "DELHI TAVERN" with eight-stall Cowhouse attached, admirably situated on Havelock Road, opposite the Wellington Pier, then in the occupation of Mr. Lockwood, publican and cowkeeper, was to be Sold by Auction Thursday 7th June 1860. The adjoining property named "Sea View Cottage", occupied by Miss Partridge, was also to be sold as a separate lot. The properties described as being built of white brick, commanding extensive views of the German ocean, well fitted up with self-acting Water-closets, well drained and supplied with water by the Great Yarmouth Waterworks Company. The property being held of the Town Council of Great Yarmouth for a term of 75 years, under a lease dated 13th October 1848. Yearly Rental of the Tavern being £25 and a Ground Rent of 30s, £11 11s and 11s respectively for the Cottage. ~ |
