A small beerhouse located on the corner of Charles Street and Garden Lane. The Registers of Electors, 1875 to 1885 identify Mr. James Mayhew Long of Yarmouth as owner, and the tenant as C. Dire. However the trade directories of 1875 to 1883 suggest that James Due and then Mrs. Mary Ann Due were the occupants. The 1876 Register of Electors confirms that James Due moved from Ordnance Road to Garden Lane in the year 1875 - 1876. The Chief Constable objected to licence renewal Friday 18th February 1938. Referred to Compensation 11th March 1938. Licence expired 7th January 1939. A Fire Station was built on the site. See p. 75 of `Gt. Yarmouth - A Second Selection ' pub. 1996 |
