Robert Bessey, born 1830, was one of the sons of John Bessey, licensee of the LORD COLLINGWOOD. In 1856 he his given as licensee of a beerhouse at North Quay. In the 1861 he is described as a licensed victualler living at 17 North Quay and in the 1871 census the address is given as 2 Goffins Lime Kiln and the house is named the PRINCESS ALEXANDRA, this is the only confirmation of house name yet found. It appears that the 1871 address applies to Goffin's Building in Lime Kiln Walk. |
