It was advertised Saturday, 6th October 1827 that the
Old-established and much frequented Inn, known by the sign
of the Star, situated on the best part of Yarmouth Quay, was
to be Sold by Private Contract.
A Corn Market was held on two days per week.
The Inn comprised a coffee-room, commercial-room and several
sitting-rooms, numerous bed-rooms and capital attics, and
had the largest private cellars in the Town.

A newly erected Brewery being the only Brewery attached to
an Inn in the Town. The
TAP adjoining being much frequented.
On 30th May 1833, John Symonds, junior, advised his worthy
masters, the Public:-
STAR TAP
"He was to be found `At Home' at the above well-known boosing-ken,
and that his crib was at all times plentifully supplied with
heavy wet, Black-strap, Blue-ruin, Old-tom, Liquor of Life,
Ginger-pop and all other cordializing and cooling draughts,
suitable for any season."
He further assured that all those who felt disposed to put him
on trial, by stepping in at the Star Tap, that he would always
be found to be a `Chip off the Old Block'.
