James Niblett of the WILTSHIRE ARMS, had been married for only six months when he returned from the races on Tuesday 23rd August 1864 and found his wife and George Carpenter in the house. He threatened to `run her through with a knife and do for her' since he claimed that she was in the habit of `receiving' strange men when he was absent. Niblett was bound over to keep the peace for three months with sureties totalling £30. The WILSHERE ARMS in 1869 and in the Y/CJ/31 Register.
