and 18s costs for running a disorderly house. (Having been previously
convicted of a similar offence). On 12th January two women had been
found fighting and the landlord made no attempt to stop it. A witness
believed that a prostitute hired a room in the house.

Saturday 4th February 1865 - Mary Munday
charged of
being drunk and of creating a disturbance in Purfleet Street, at
midnight. Fine of 5s and 10s costs, or in default 14 days. The money was
paid. |
Although Horatio Carter is given as the landlord in the 1863 trades
directory, it seems that by July 1863 Mr. Munday held the licence.
On Saturday 24th October 1863, Mr. William Munday of the
Angel, King Street had been assaulted
by Horatio Carter, then a boatman.
Expenses of 11s 6d were to be paid by Carter.

All reports of disorderly conduct at the
house on 12th January 1859 name the landlord as Robert Barnard
at the Angel, King Street.
No such person has been discovered as a
licensee in Lynn in the period 1850-65.
