Robert Barber died suddenly on the morning of Sunday 27th March 1859 a few minutes after returning from having a coffee at a neighbouring shop. Described as a thick-set, short-necked man, of asbout 40, he apparently died of a brain haemorrhage.

The sudden death of Robert Barker on Sunday 27th March 1859 was reported on 2nd April (Norfolk News). A blood vessel in his brain had ruptured shortly after he had returned to the Tap after having a cup of coffee at Rayner's.

It was reported 5th February 1870 that a "convict at large, having a ticket to leave from Millbank prison", named Thomas Brennan, had stolen a pewter pint pot from the Globe Tap. The pot was described as the property of Mrs. Skipper, but also as belonging to Mr. A Flowers.
