Address given as Blackfriars Road in 1854, 1856, 1858 & 1863
On the morning of Sunday 9th January 1859 smoke was observed to issue from
the attic window. it was soon found that the stairs were on fire, but with a
little assistance and a few pails of water, it was extinguished.
The chimney of the adjoining house had been on fire the previous day and
this was considered to be the cause of the accident, since the staircase
adjoined the chimney wall.
