The sale of the West Lynn house, the PRUSSIAN BARQUE was held here 14th June 1844. Address as 5a Southgates Street 1854 Licensee David Cowen was summoned at the February 1912 Brewster Sessions for persistent cruelty to his wife. She was granted a separation. In his evidence Cowen stated he had been landlord of the Prince of Wales for 'nearly ten years'. Previously a seaman, he became landlord of the Steamboat - was there for six years - without complaint. ![]() Closed & boarded up from December 1991.
