The ROYAL to 1820 The PRINCE OF WALES c1845 - 1886 Address as 5 Purfleet Street in 1881 The ROYALTY c1886 - 1895 Forty nine year old William Priest, innkeeper of Purfleet Street, was discovered with Walter Briscoe(?) trespassing on land at Gayton on February 22nd 1895. They were accused of the attempted poaching of game and conies. A hare had been shot and put in their cart. Priest claimed that he had only shot a blackbird and his companion had picked it up. Their only intention was to shoot small birds. Briscoe of Purfleet Street, claimed he had never fired a gun in his life. Each were fined 5s and costs at the hearing held 4th March 1895. It is unclear if Mr. Priest was working at this house at the time of the offence or at another Lynn inn. The CENTRAL HOTEL from (July ?) 1895 |
