On Sunday 16th October 1859, John Mussett, landlord
of the "WHO WOULD HAVE THOUGHT IT"
beerhouse, in the High Street was discovered serving beer to three men
at 11:30 am.
At the Petty Session held during the following week, Mussett paid the
fine of 10s and 12s expenses.
The 1861 census records John Mussett, brewer, age 41 and situated at 3
Brags Yard, High Street. (Bray's Yard?)
By 1897, Nos. 19 and 20, High Street were
Kendrick's shoe shop.
The premises were severely damaged by fire in that year.
I earlier years, Mr. Kendrick operated from No. 20, whilst the brewery
of Mr. Mussett was located in the yard behind.
