Thanks
to Graham Barrett for his memories of this house.

Also remembered as the FIVE BELLS. A large clay lump building with tiled roof. Demolished by the 1960's. By the 1940's the property was already divided into three dwellings. The Smiths lived at the West end, a family of 2 males and 2 females. Emma Smith stayed at home to keep the house. In the middle lived Fred and Lotty Robinson with their 3 daughters. At the other end was `Old' Mrs Robinson and her son Ben, who was a local gamekeeper. 14.06.2003 The mystery deepens :- Alburgh Church had only 4 bells until 1730, when the peal was increased to 6. Later the number increased to 8 bells. |
