It was reported 3rd November 1894 that fire had broken out in the thatched roof of the Butchers Arms at 8:00pm pm on Tuesday 30th October 1894. The house, built of clay and oak, had stood for over 200 years and once traded as a public house. Unoccupied since 1892 and used as storage for carrots and cabbages. Fire so intense that nothing remained of the building. |
