On Monday 8th September 1884 it was heard that Robert
Stagg, alias Robinson, better known as "Cockle Joe", had been disorderly
and refused to leave the GROVE COTTAGE when
requested by Heath, the landlord. Fine of £3 5s which included
costs.
John Barley was granted a new licence (full) Tuesday 8th September
1868.
There was no objection to the licence being referred at the East Harling
Brewster Sessions held Monday 12th February 1906 where trade was said to
be about a barrel per week.
But the house survived for several more years.
