Stephen Frederick Underwood, Beer House Keeper, applied "For a licence to hold any of the Excise Licenses that may be held by a Publican for the sale by retail, at a house by the sign of The Feathers, at the Annual General Licensing Meeting to be held 22nd August 1876, of intoxicating Liquors to be consumed on or off the premises. " Tuesday, 22nd August 1876 - Provisional licence to sell spirits granted. Listed as the PRINCE OF WALES, lot 12 in sale of Reepham Brewery Estate (Bircham & Sons) Saturday 8th June 1878. Then let to Walter Durrell at an annual rent of £14.00 The property consisted of :- `A neatly built flint house containing, Tap & Parlour, Pantry, & Wash House, Small Parlour, an Upland Cellar behind, and staircase up to 6 Bedrooms. Draw Up Foreground and Stable, Long Tiled Shed, Enclosed Yard and Garden in the rear. Also included, the adjoining residence of 4 bedrooms etc., let out at a rent of £10.00 per annum.' - Copyhold of the Manor of Aylsham Lancaster. The lot was purchased by Bullard. Conveyed from Reepham Brewery to Henry Bullard & John Boyce 26 November 1878. Licence upgraded 3rd July 1962 to include the sale of spirits. 2002 - A wonderful Bullards mirrored advertisement is proudly displayed behind the bar. |
