On 23rd June 1813 a freehold estate including Residence with 30 acres of Land, a Farm of 70 acres, a Public House, and Four Cottages were offered for sale by auction at Garroway's Coffee House, Change Alley, Cornhill, London.

Lot 1 was the Residence in the Parish of Bagthorpe.
Lot 2 was a small desirable Farm, adjoining the previous lot and included a Public House.
Lot 3 was Four very good Cottages with large gardens.

Viewing could be undertaken by application to Mr. Cole at Bagthorpe or printed particulars could be obtained from sources in Lynn, Newmarket, Norwich, Bury, Ipswich or London.

In 1836 the parish is described as having 75 inhabitants and 750 acres of land belonging to George William Chad Esq. The Church being enjoyed by the Reverend Stephen Reed Catley. The other named inhabitants are the Misses Cole.

No public house name has yet been traced to Bagthorpe.
