Late 17thC building. Elijah Southerland, aged 26 and a publican, appeared on bail Monday `10th November 1856 having been charged of stealing about five stone of carrots from a field in Brancaster, on the night of 29th October, the property of Richard Sands. He refused to be tried in the petty sessions and so was committed to trial at the next Walsingham Quarter Sessions. 31st January 1863 - Elijah Sutherland, publican and brewer, a person of good circumstances, and the owner of several houses was charged of stealing 1¾ pecks of peas, on the 1st January, the property of publican John Bunkell of Burnham Deepdale. He elected to be tried by the bench and was committed to Norwich castle for two months. Lease to Bullards not renewed 11.10.1917
