The Coffee Tavern
On 30th October 1882, William Frostick of Banningham, a dealer, sought
refreshment and lodging at the Lord Nelson Coffee Tavern. He
was offered a bun and coffee, but was advised that it was closing time
and there were no spare rooms. After refusing to leave, Frosdick was
eventually ejected from the house and the door was damaged in the
process. Charged by John Riches of causing malicious damage to the door,
on Monday 6th November 1882 he was fined 17s 6d and 22s damages. Charged
by the police of being drunk and disorderly, he was fined a further 13s
including costs.
At the same Petty Session, the Billiards licence was transferred from
Theodore Anderson to John Riches. |
