Named in Pigot's 1830 directory.
A sale was held at the inn Wednesday 27th October 1830.
There were 19 lots including Cottages and land.
Out of interest, it was specified that following the sale :-
Cottages as lots 2,3 & 4 were to share the privy near lot 3.
The cottages as lots 5, 6 & 7 were to share the privy of lot 8 (which adjoined lot 10
towards the south).
The purchaser of lot 9 would receive all rights to the other privy adjoining lot 10 (to
the North)
Lot 10 was a coal shed.
For Sale by Auction Tuesday 7th June 1831.
With suitable and convenient offices, brew-house, stables and other
outbuildings, yards and gardens adjoining.
All the Household Furniture and Effects, including Earthenware, Glass,
China and Brewing Plant were to be Sold by Auction Wednesday 22nd June
1831 and the following Three days, since Mr. Chapling was declining the
business.
Closed by 1845 as a Butcher shop is given on site 1845 to 1916.
Site now Clifton House.
