At the Petty Sessions held at Grimston on Monday 7th
September 1891 John Cole was charged of having his house open at illegal
hours on 15th August.
Police-constable Baldwin had entered the house at 11:15 pm and had been
able to take the names of several people, although there had probably
been 50 persons present.
For the brewers it was said that they had not supplied the house with
any liquors for several days before the 15th, but he had obtained
supplies from elsewhere. Cole had left the house on the 17th August.
Pleading guilty, Cole said he had neither watch or clock in the house
and was unaware of the time.
The persons recorded were:- Robert Asker, James Plumb, Charles Coe,
Robert Pooley, George Turner, Robert Mason, William Moore, Walter
Walker, Alfred Mason, Herbert Fox, John Shinn, Jonathan Skeet, Samuel
Moore and John Smith, all of Castle Acre. They were each fined 1s and 8s
6d costs.
Licence not renewed 5th February 1962.
