(Although a Black Horse is recorded from 1688?)

Tenant Moyes was replaced in 1809 as
"his affairs got so embarrassed he could not continue".


Original house was situated on Church Lane and became Hall Cottage, a private dwelling. The building shown above (1988 image) dates from about 1905 and Listed as grade III.

Recorded 1906 as "adjacent to the beautiful Norman church which is round the bend beyond the hostelry. "

April 1965 - Manager and Manageress wanted Immediately.

It was reported Friday, 31st October 1975, that a meeting of the Parish Council, held at the Black Horse, had agreed that Public Toilets would be made available at the Castle, from April 1976.
