Included in Loddon & Clavering Register taken 21st September 1789.
Shown on Bryant's map of 1826.
The Household Furniture and other Effects of Mrs.
Turner were to be Sold by Auction Tuesday 8th October 1895 since she was
leaving the Inn.
On Wednesday 24th May 1905, Messrs. Youngs, Crawshay &
Youngs applied for permission to make alterations to the house in order
to allow the tenant to provide refreshments in the way of tea, etc. for
cyclists and others. The refreshments would be served in the private
quarters, but the only access was through the public bar, which was most
objectionable, especially to ladies. It was proposed to make a new
entrance. The magistrates approved the application and thought it would
be an improvement.
Miscellaneous articles including Chairs, Tables, Fowl
Houses, Pig Troughs, Kennel, 40 Iron Sheets and sundry items, the
property of Mr. Nobbs, were to be Sold on Monday 18th February 1907
since he was leaving the district.
