Pevsner, in BUILDINGS OF ENGLAND gives following description - ` On way from Church to Quay, Starr House, a multi-paned shop front, elevated on steps above the street, was converted from a public house in 1865' Mr Stephen Starling operated as a grocers, drapers and wine merchant from the premises until he sold to Mr Starr in 1906. The shop was known as Commerce House and later as Starr House, when run by Freda Starr. Occupied by `Made in Cley' pottery shop by 2000 Thanks to Kay Starling for the update 19.07.2012. |
