Benjamin Nunn and William Finch were indicted at the Petty Sessions Thursday 29th October 1829, for uttering a crown piece knowing it to be counterfeit. In company at the Cross Keys on 18th September 1829, they had offered the crown-piece to the landlady in payment for a pint of beer, which proved to be counterfeit. They had tendered several pieces of bad money in payment for beer at several public-houses in Diss the same day. Found guilty and sentenced to six months' imprisonment and hard labour, and at the end of that period to find sureties for their good behaviour for six months.
