The Effects of Mr. Ward, who was leaving the Half Moon, were offered For Sale by Auction Friday 30th June 1882. Included were :- 10 capital post horses and ponies, 17 carriages of various description and 10 sets of harness. The Household furniture, 2 Hackneys, Harness, Carts and other effects of Mr. Horace Elsey for For Sale by Auction, Saturday, 5th January 1889 since he was declining innkeeping. Not identified in directories after 1916 At the Licensing Session held Wednesday 16th March 1920, the owners Messrs. Youngs, Crawshay & Youngs appealed against the proposed closure of the DOLPHIN on the grounds of redundancy. In order to save the DOLPHIN the brewers offered to substitute the HALF MOON. The HALF MOON was then selling 77½ barrels of beer and 35 gallons of spirits a year. The Bench accepted the proposal. Youngs, Crawshay & Youngs instructed the sale of the Business Premises, formerly known as the "Half Moon", on Friday, 9th September 1921. The property consisting of a Large and Commodious Dwelling-House, commanding an Important Site with a frontage of about 60 feet, containing Large front Room, 21 feet x 14 feet, Sitting Room, two Small rooms, Kitchen, Storeroom, Cellar, Four Bedrooms, and outside offices. Gas and Town Water being laid on. The wide Entrance Gate from the main street leading into a large Open Yard with Extensive Premises consisting of Brick, Boarded and Tiled Stabling, Numerous Loose Boxes, Coach house, Harness room and Lean-to Sheds, the Site covering about 28 Perches.
