Robert Burrows was
manager of Thomas Lombe Taylor's Brewery in 1850 and in 1868.
In 1875 the partnership of Taylor, Sons & Dowson , known as the UPPER BREWERY
was formed.

On May 1st 1876 it was announced that Messrs. Taylor, Sons & Dowson had
purchased the Brewery and Maltings of Mr. J. Miller which was located at
Walsham-Le-Willows, Suffolk.
Ales of similar character, which had acquired such celebrity in the
neighbourhood, would be continued to be brewed.
The Malt, Hop and Corn Trades would also be continued to be carried out from the
premises.
In addition very superior Stout, also Pale, Family and other Ales, and high
class Wines and Spirits would be supplied.
The Brewery and six Public Houses had been purchased at auction Wednesday 29th
March 1876 for the total sum of £10,800.
Mr. F. W. Dowson Esq. managing partner of the firm, treated the workmen and
others employed at the brewery, to a dinner at the CROWN Hotel on the evening of
Tuesday 21st March 1882 upon the occasion of his marriage with Miss F. M.
Whitfield. of Birmingham. Chief clerk, Mr. Leonard Hall took the chair and the
brewer, Mr. Harry Mase the vice chair. The employees of the brewery had
subscribed to a handsome pair of candelabra which was handed to Mr. Dowson.
Advertised for sale 1896 for £120,000 including 67 licensed houses.
Sold to Tollemache of Ipswich who in turn sold to Lacons of Gt. Yarmouth.
