Including about 2 acres of Meadow Land. "The Premises well adapted for any person desirous of brewing his own beer; the river Waveney passing by the walls of the brewery." Described May 1842 as "The House of William Baker" (William Godbold known to be landlord 1839, 1840, 1842 and 1845), was Baker an error? William Godbold was refused the licence of the PICKEREL, Bungay, Tuesday 24th November, 1846, since " He had been convicted of keeping a disorderly house, the Falcon Inn, Ditchingham". On 3rd December 1846, Mr. Godbold appealed against the refusal and presented a certificate that stated that, although he had once been convicted in Loddon, subsequent licences had been granted to him and there had been no further complaint. The licence was granted, but with a caution to be careful as to how he ran the house. (In January 1847, Mr. William Godbold, the landlord of the Pickerel, was admitted to bail, being accused of stealing a spade. He was acquitted at Beccles Sessions, Tuesday 29th June 1847).
