In July 1817 a person named Robert Hill was charged with knowingly
receiving stolen beer. It appears that he was committed to the
County Gaol. <The report does not give any
indication as to where Mr. Hill lived or if he was a publican.>

Joseph Bunting is given in christening record dated 17th August 1821 as a
baker. he is given as a publican in similar record dated 14th April 1827 and
as a Beer retailer in 1836 trade directory.
James Abbs first appears as a publican in christening record dated 4th March
1838
