Offered To Let September 1866, an Old-established Inn, doing a capital
business, with excellent Stables, gig-house, Cottage and Four Acres of
Land.
Apply at Messrs. Bidwell's Brewery, East Dereham.
The same offer appeared July 1867.
Property described in Dereham Brewery (Bidwell & Co) document dated 1890 as being
Copyhold with Four acres of land.
Monday 28th July 1890 - Although Mrs. Maria Rose had already vacated the
premises in June, and Charles Johnson was running the house, Mrs. Rose
denied that she had applied for transfer of licence to Mr. Johnson.
Application for the licence transfer was thus adjourned until such time
as all parties could agree.
On Monday 25th August 1890 both Mrs. Rose and Charles Johnson applied
for the licence. It was said that Mr. Johnson already held a temporary
licence for the house, as provided by Messrs. Bidwell. The magistrates
granted him the full licence. The representatives of Mrs Rose said they
would appeal at the Quarter Sessions to which they were ordered to
provide recognisances of £40.
