c1912 The message on the reverse of the above is dated 9th October 1918 Only found in S&P records as a beerhouse closed by compensation and sold 1913. Jacob Rolph is the name deciphered from the large signboard to the mid left of the illustration above. He was here to at least 1912. The hanging sign clearly says Butchers Arms and gives the brewer as Steward & Patteson. Compensation payment of £724 5s 4d was confirmed for owners Steward & Patteson and for share with their tenant, Mr. Jacob Rolph, at a meeting of the Norfolk Compensation Authority during the week of 20th December 1913. Note that a Luke Rolph is given at a Feltwell beerhouse 1916 - 1922. |
