In 1775 a wrestling tournament was held for 24 men. The prize money was two and a half guineas. A gold laced hat was offered for third prize. 12 pairs of gloves were also offered. Samuel Coker given in 1789 register, but Samuel Cooper in the 1794 register. As shown on Faden's 1797 map - South of the village, adjoining Dalling Common. Not shown on Bryant's 1826 map. |
