Let to Matthew Morters at an annual rent of £21. ` A good brick and flint roadside house containing: Parlour, Tap Room, Bar; 2 Bedrooms; Good Cellar with Scullery & Store Room over, Yard in rear in which are Enclosed Skittle Ground, Detached Wash House, 3 Stall Stable with Loft above & Cart Lodge & a garden beyond; Also a short distance from the Public House an Enclosure of Arable land., comprising about 1½ acres next to the Holt road. Also included an adjoining House with Bakers Shop (Let for £7 pa) Plus another House with Drapers shop (Let for £7 pa) - Freehold' Purchased by Bullard. The house is referenced as `Formerly the HART' in conveyance documents dated 26.11.1878. Sales of 109 barrels of beer reported at First Joint Committee Meeting of Bullards and S&P 29.05.1962. No change recommended. A 1976 memo in Watney Mann records reads....
According to one source the business closed in 1986, but another internet source describes the the house as the former Jolly Farmers when listed 2nd July 1984, as a Grade II listed property.
