It seems that Thomas Gathercole enlisted in the Royal Norfolks in March 1915 and was transferred to the Queens Royal West Surrey Regiment. Serving in England throughout, he was kicked in the knee by a horse and discharged with 20% disablement 25th April 1919. Then lived at Wretton, Stoke Ferry.

Trade in 1911 totalled 80 barrels of beer, 27 gallons of spirits and 206 dozen bottles of minerals.
In 1912 the figures were 62 barrels, 23 spirits and 176 minerals.
For 1913 were 59 barrels, 20 spirits and 170 minerals.

On Monday, 2nd March 1914 the licence was referred for Compensation.

It was announced 26th December 1914 that following a claim of £534 17s 6d from the Compensation Authorities, the sum of £500 had been approved. The occupants named as William Cox and (owner) Baroness Amberst of Hackney.
