Beerhouse & shopkeeper 1845 Grocer & Beer Shop 1846 Beer Shop in middle of village 1851 Grocer & Beer retailer 1856. Grocer & Victualler 1861 Saturday 27th August 1870 - Messrs. Morse & Woods applied for a licence for the beerhouse, lately kept by Mr. Ramshaw. Licence application refused, it was presumed because the previous tenant had kept a disorderly house by encouraging a gang of poachers. Mrs Ramshaw a shopkeeper in 1871. No mention of beer. Son, John Ramshaw (age 41) a higgler. Last mentioned as shopkeeper 1883 Mrs Ramshaw died Q1 1888 age 93 A fourth outlet for beer in Foulden, but name of house yet to be determined. |
