The West gable contained a theatre and was frequented by travelling players.

Playbill dated 7th January 1793 announced :-
`At the Theatre, Ship Inn, Gaywood -
Presents the play Richard III
followed by Twiggle & Phiz.

It was reported 20th December 1851 that the Insolvent, Thomas Stagg had debts of £110 0s 4d and assets of £9 7s 11d.

Thomas Stagg, formerly of 11, Chapel Street, Lynn, gig painter, and afterwards, for last twelve months, of Gaywood, gig painter and publican, was to appear in the County Court on 28th January 1852 for his First examination of his Debts, Estate and Effects.

Transferred into Kings Lynn Borough in 1935.

"Disco Room" converted to a steak bar, opening Wednesday 30th January 1974, offering full grill services at about £2 a head.

Used as the Kings Lynn Cricket Club in the 1980's as their clubhouse.
Licensee Vincent Martin played in both the 1st and 2nd teams and was Captain of the Sunday team.
