Extension dated 1925.
Thanks to Phil Bowden for the photographs October 2002. In 1976, whist renovations were being carried out by the new owner, Mr. Carey, an old blue bottle was discovered mortared into the bar wall. It contained a message from Eliza Wright and was dated 26th September 1882. She recorded that building work was almost complete. The owners (?) were bricklayers Taylor, Lods and Dawson from Diss, the persons working on the changes were carpenters R. Todd and J. Downing, coopers, bricklayers and labourers were C. Brown, R. Thurlow and David Leftley. Purchased February 1993 for £86,000. |
