In July 1830, several pieces of Arable and Meadow Land, in Gressenhall, containing together 28A. 2R. 7P. was to be Sold by Auction.
The Land, in occupation of Mr. James Christmas was rented by him at £21 per year.

In December 1836 Mr. James Christmas is named at the VICTORY, Gressenhall.

By the 1861 census the property was known as the EEL'S FOOT with the occupant given as a farrier and cow leech, no mention of beer.

 

     
 
James Christmas is entry 5164 in the 1836 - 1837 Register of Electors.  Address as "Near the House of Industry", Gressenhall. "Freehold house and garden."

The death of James Christmas recorded as 22nd January and his burial followed on 29th January 1841. Age 69.

Elizabeth Christmas, widow,  is recorded as an Innkeeper in 1851.
Her burial was at Gressenhall, 25th June 1857
