SWAN 1779, 1789 & 1794.
As the WHITE SWAN 1890
In December 1779 a Carriage, setting out from the
KINGS HEAD, Houghton, called here to collect game
and parcels destined for delivery in London. Stop described as `Mr.
Pilgrim's at the Swan Inn, Massingham.'

The Lynn Advertiser of 27th September 1901
carried notice of the sale by Auction,
upon the instructions of Mr W Forster, of ALL
the HOUSEHOLD FURNITURE & EFFECTS of the INN.
Including 12 feather-beds and bed-room appointments,
dining-room furniture (excellent pianoforte in walnut by Metzler &
Co),
6 antique chairs, bureau, bookcase and quantity of miscellaneous effects.
Also a Cream coloured Cob. 15 1 hh, quiet in single and double harness.
Sale 2:30pm September 30th 1901, at the Inn.
