Police-constable Goll visited the house between nine and ten o'clock
on the night of Friday 3rd March 1865. Amongst those drinking was
William Tuck, known as "The Farmer" and a man of notorious intemperate
habits. Tuck was drunk and using foul language.
At the hearing on Monday 20th March it was heard that Robert Lewis had
run the house for eight years <i.e. since
1857> and his father before him for thirty-two years,
< so from about 1825> without any complaint.
Since Tuck was drunk and had been served by Lewis, a fine of 1s and
costs was imposed.
